Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The Kiev inspectors have been controlling 12 Polish meat plants for a week now. They are very thorough.
Four Ukrainian veterinary inspectors have been visiting Polish plants (six red meat, four poultry and two dairy producers). On the basis of this inspection they will decide who gets the exports license. The representatives of the Polish sector worry.
“Poland has sent a list of 200 plants interested in exports to Ukraine. We hope the controls will allow to choose more plants”, Witold Choinski, the CEO of the Polish Association of Meat Producers, Exporters and Importers said.
The problems with exports to Ukraine started in April when the Polish party received a list of mistakes which made the Ukrainians implement the exports ban. On May 4th, an agreement was reached with new rules. Exports were expected to be relaunched on May 20th. However, the agreement did not come into force because Andrzej Lepper, then the Minister of Agriculture, said that only the Polish side signed the agreement.
