WIG20 finally rebounds

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The WIG20 index rebounded on Thursday while stock of companies with small and mid capitalization again ended down.

The WIG20 index opened down and got close to the 2,200 points level but bulls fought fiercely and the index exceeded the level of 2,300 points. It ended 1.1 percent up at 2,303 points.

Polnord was the best performer among blue chips. The home building company controlled by Ryszard Krauze may be sold to Pirelli Pekao RE. The stock jumped 10.4 percent. PKN Orlen gained 4.1 percent after its CEO was dismissed and Jacek Krawiec, its deputy CEO, was appointed the head of the fuel giant. KGHM copper producer, the worst blue chip in September, rebounded and grew 1.69 percent on increasing copper prices.

Construction companies – except for Polnord - were losing on Thursday. Austrian Immoeast dived 27.7 percent while British-Dutch Orco Group dropped 15.2 percent.

Shares worth PLN 1.7bn changed hands for the highest level since July 30th when the volume of trade exceeded PLN 2bn.
