Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – On Monday, the WIG20 index rose for the third consecutive time. Out of thirteen indices reached new heights today.
The 20 share blue chips index ended 1.36 percent up at 3,229.22 reaching its eighth new record in April. The general index WIG exceeded 44,000 points for the first time in history and ended 446 points higher. WIRR and MIDWIG also rose to their new records. WIRR gained 0.1 percent while MIDWIG 0.2 percent. Stock investors were helped by appreciating zloty.
KGHM copper producer and banks paced the advances today. KGHM stock rose to PLN 111, the highest level ever. The copper producer added 4.2 percent while shares worth PLN 177m changed hands. Bioton insulin producer hit its new record after the company rose over 4 percent. The stock costs PLN 22.9. The company plans to increase sales to PLN 1 billion within three years and to be listed in New York in four years. Banks were rising with PKO BP, Pekao, BRE Bank and BZ WBK hitting new records. Jacek Ksen, the CEO of BZ WBK said that the bank wanted to increase its gross income this year to PLN 1 billion from PLN 689m generated last year.
Prokom IT company did not join the upward trend after the company said during the weekend that it bought 31 percent in Safe Computing from Net Technology for PLN 12.48m. Prokom controls now 90 percent in this firm.
Alchemia gained 12.9 percent after “Puls Biznesu” said that Roman Karkosik, its investor, was interested in Stocznia Gdanska. Karina Wsciubiak, Alchemia CEO, said that Roman Karkosik could invest via Alchemia.
