Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The Warsaw Stock Exchange lost its chance to acquire its Slovenian peer. Athens and Vienna markets offered higher prices.

The WSE was not included on the short list to buy a stake of Ljubljana stock exchange published yesterday. Hellenic Exchanges Holding, the operator of Athens market and Wiener Borse offered higher prices. They will be the only companies allowed to negotiate to buy 81 percent of the Slovenian stock exchange.

“We were informed that the offers were compared as far as prices are concerned”, Ludwik Sobolewski, GPW CEO said.

Which means that the WSE offered to little. Deutsche Boerse and OMX AB were also rejected.

There are 188 companies listed on the Ljubljana stock exchange and their joint capitalization amounts to EUR 24.25bn.
