Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – According to “PB” sources, Zlomrex, Poland’s biggest steel distributor, wants to submit an offer to buy Stocznia Gdynia.

Last Friday was the deadline to submit offers to privatize Gdynia shipyard.

“One of the entities interested in the project ask for more time to prepare its offer so the deadline was shifted”, Dariusz Adamski, the head of Solidarnosc trade union at the shipyard, and Stocznia Gdynia member of the supervisory board said.

Arkadiusz Aszyk, shipyard deputy CEO, said that the offers should be submitted before October 1st. Although no one wanted to say what company is mentioned, “PB” has found out that it is Zlomrex, Poland biggest steel distributor.

“I don’t comment”, Przemyslaw Sztuczkowski, Zlomrex CEO said.

So far, Zlomrex has been mentioned as a potential partner for Stocznia Szczecinska Nowa shipyard. However, the company does not face privatization soon. Gdynia shipyard has cooperated with Zlomrex in the past and may be its important client. Over 10 weeks ago, the state decided to increase the shipyard’s capital by PLN 515m (EUR 134.9m). 7-8 companies were interested in privatization. Rami Ungar, a ship owner, and Ukrainian Donbas were mentioned among potential buyers. However, Donbas said it would apply to buy Stocznia Gdansk, so it’s not very likely that the company will also want to buy Gdynia.
