Bristol soon to have new operator

This month should see the sale of the Meridien group of hotels which operates the Warsaw Bristol. The seller is the British Compass which is part of the Granada hotel and leisure group. Compass is selling off its hotel interests in order to concentrate on catering. It has already sold its interests in the Posthouse chain and now it is the turn of Meridien. The next in line to be sold are the 46 hotels in the Heritage brand. Compass is hoping to collect more than GBP2bn on the Meridien sale, although this could be a bit optimistic given the present slump in the market. The most likely buyers are the American Marriott International and Japanese.
