Private equity fund closes its Polish office. Carlyle Group has not conducted a single transaction for 12 months.

Carlyle Group, one of global equity funds, opened its Warsaw office over a year ago. The office was supposed to manage transactions in Central and Eastern Europe. Now, the fund announced it was closing its Warsaw office which has not conducted any transaction due to ‘unfavorable investment climate’. According to “eFinancialNews”, all 10 Polish employees will be fired. “PB” has not managed to confirm the news at the fund.

Jacek Siwicki, Enterprise Investors fund partner, does not agree that the climate in Poland is unfavorable.

“We have recently bought 60 percent in Wema for nearly PLN 150m and successfully conducted a tender call for Kofola-Hoop shares (worth nearly PLN 500m). This proves that there are opportunities to invest big amount of money in promising companies”, Jacek Siwicki said.
