Osoba, która dobrze pracuje i wykonuje swoje zadania nie tracąc czasu, jest bez wątpienia wydajnym, efektywnym pracownikiem – tutaj użyjemy słówka „efficient”:
- Efficient employees and managers complete tasks in the least amount of time possible with the least amount of resources (=zasoby) possible by utilizing (=dzięki wykorzystaniu) certain time-saving strategies.
- My work required deep concentration and I am positive (=absolutnie pewna) that I would have been a far more efficient worker had I had a small office with a door that I could close when I needed to concentrate.
Gdy używamy słówka „efficient”, akcentujemy bardzo szybkie tempo pracy i bardzo krótki czas potrzebny na realizację określonego zadania. Sens wykonywanej pracy nie ma tutaj żadnego znaczenia, bo nawet przysłowiowy kawał dobrej, nikomu niepotrzebnej roboty można wykonać efektywnie, czyli „efficiently”:
- Robots can carry out boring work efficiently, accurately (=dokładnie, precyzyjnie) and without breaks.
- Here you need to have the ability to work efficiently under pressure (=pod presją, naciskiem) and to tight deadlines (=przy napiętych terminach).
- Some SMEs (small and medium enterprises = małe i średnie przedsiębiorstwa) have succeeded by providing services that their much larger competitors are simply unable to do as efficiently.
Jeśli zaś chcemy wyeksponować skuteczność naszego współpracownika – cechę, która pozwala mu osiągać zakładane wyniki – wtedy użyjemy raczej słówka „effective”:
- In our show, we will talk to some mentors and coaches to find out the secret tips about what it takes to have the kind of presence (=osobowość, indywidualność) it takes to be an effective boss in today's fast moving world.
- Allen has a reputation as an unorthodox (=nieszablonowy, niekonwencjonalny) but effective manager.
- He is an effective manager at a certain level but I think deep down he is aware of his limits (=w głębi serca jest świadomy swoich ograniczeń).
