Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) - The top ten of the best-earning representatives in the banking sector in 2007 includes three representatives of BRE Bank, two ex-CEOs and as many as five foreigners. Jacek Ksen, ex-CEO of BZ WBK, leads the ranking with a salary of PLN 5.66 million (EUR 1.6m). He is closely followed by Slawomir Lachowski, BRE Bank ex-CEO, with PLN 5.23 million, and Jozef Wancer, BPH Bank CEO, with PLN 5.21 million. Slawomir Sikora, Citibank Handlowy CEO, earned PLN 3.87 million last year, while Krzysztof Bielecki, Pekao CEO, received PLN 3.15 million.

Getin Holding does not offer high wages. Its former CEO Piotr Stepniak earned PLN 355,000 plus PLN 24,000 in the managements of subsidiaries. Krzysztof Rosinski, the present CEO of the holding, earned PLN 89,000 in 2007 plus additional PLN 456,000 for his job in subsidiaries. PKO BP, Poland’s second largest bank, is not spending lavishly on its managers, as is appropriate for a state-controlled enterprise. Rafal Juszczak, its CEO earned PLN 18,700 monthly.

“Of course I would like to be paid relatively to my competences reflected in the bank’s results. However, when I came to PKO BP, I did not think about my income. I would like to stay here even if the law limiting wages of managers in state-owned-enterprises is not changed”, Rafal Juszczak commented.
