Russian-British Intrall from Lublin, who replaced bankrupt Daewoo Motor Polska, produced 6 cars only in the January-February period, or 97.8 percent less than last year. According to new rules implemented last autumn, cars must be equipped with engines abiding Euro IV norms. Intrall has such engines produced by Andoria and Iveco but cannot use them because they don’t have homologation.
“We will get it till the end of March”, Piotr Mazur, Intrall deputy CEO said.
The company produces cars without engines. There will be only 48 of them produced in March. In April production will come back to normal levels and amount to 190 cars. Despite the problems, the company plans to produce 2,300 cars this year.
Meanwhile the company is selling its previous model abiding Euro III norms. In the first two months of the year, the company sold 241 cars from the stock, or over 28 percent more than last year. In February, Intrall sold 111 vehicles, or 15 percent fewer than a year ago.
The company is getting ready to launch production of a new model – Lubo. It was supposed to be sold in 2007 but today the company promises it will be 2008.
“Research proved that in order to find clients, the new car cannot be more than 15 percent more expensive than Lublin model, that’s why we’re looking for car parts producers”, Piotr Mazur explained.
Since 2010, the company wants to produce up to 15,000 Lubo cars annually.
