Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The first session after Christmas ended with new records. The WIG20 index ended at 2,699.07 points, or 1.38 percent up. WIG exceeded 36,000 points for the first time in the history and ended 68.5 points higher. MIDWIG improved its all-time maximum for the sixth consecutive day and ended at 2,193.41 points. These records were achieved despite very low volume of trade. Shares of blue chips worth PLN 309m (EUR 80.6m) only changed hands.

PKN Orlen fuel giant added 1.5 percent after it said it had signed agreements with 11 banks for multi-currency credits worth EUR 1 billion. The funds will be spent to pay back debts and finance current operations of the company. PKO BP bank rose 0.7 percent. KGHM copper producer was the best performer and ended 3.8 percent up at PLN 62.9.

Echo Investment developer also hit its record and ended at PLN 157 – an obvious result of window dressing as the following two pension funds: OFE PZU Zlota Jesien and PTE Commercial Union have over 5 percent in its structure. Elektrim was the worst performer – it lost nearly 8 percent.
