European Commission lost patience. Polish shipyards were supposed to be privatized till June. Only one of them – Stocznia Gdansk was sold (to Ukrainian Donbas). Stocznia Gdynia and Stocznia Szczecinska Nowa are left. The first one was supposed to be acquired by Amber, a Polish company but the investor withdrew. The latter is supported by the Agency of Industrial Development which is looking for an investor.
Aleksander Grad, the minister of the treasury, said that he would immediately go to Brussels to explain the situation.
“Four letters of intent came to the ministry today to buy both shipyards. We believe that the EC will let us conclude the privatization of these companies”, Aleksander Grad said.
He added that Stocznia Gdynia would get PLN 515m (EUR 150.9m) of capital (in form of shares of PKO BP and Police).
