Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The Warsaw court upheld PLN 10m of fine for TP telecom.

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The Warsaw court upheld PLN 10m of fine for TP telecom.

“The punishment should be big and the telecom is fined to know not to make it difficult for small operators to enter the market”, Bogdan Gierzynski, the judge from the court of competition and consumers’ protection said while dismissing the appeal of TP from PLN 10m (EUR 2.5m) of fine. The former monopoly telecom was fined a year ago because the telecommunication authorities decided that it did not want to help TeleNet company enter the market.

According to telecommunication authorities, the fine was not very big because it amounted to only 0.076 percent of TP’s annual sales while the law allows for fines amounting to 3 percent of sales. TP said it is going to appeal from this decision.
