Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – After yesterday’s article in ‘Puls Biznesu’ concerning the cancellation of the tender for BSE tests, the Polish MPs to Brussels demanded explanations from the European Commission ‘I have already addressed the European Commission a question. We will discuss it during the nearest meeting of the Polish group in Strasbourg’, Adam Bielan from Law and Justice party said.
In December, the Representation of the European Commission (REC) rejected the report of the Polish tender committee concerning the choice of laboratory equipment and 710,000 tests for BSE. The tests should suffice for all the year, and EU was to give EUR 12 m from the Phare fund. According to ‘PB’ sources, the tender was cancelled by a Dutch commissioner. It was a Dutch company which did not take part in the tender because it did not manage to prepare all documents on time.
Bruno Dethomas, the head of REC did not agree with the allegations. ‘There were no Dutch companies in the tender. Three groups of REC and independent experts evaluate the reports. A single person has no influence on the decisions’, Bruno Dethomas said. An anonymous former REC’s employees called ‘Puls Biznesu’. He said that allegations against the Dutch man were false and it was the Polish side who committed just too many mistakes at the tender. If he is right, it is the Polish officials who should be punished.
