On 4 September, treasury minister Wieslaw Kaczmarek will make a decision on which company is to have negotiating exclusivity for Warsaw electricity distributor Stoen. Rumour has it that it will be either Electrabel or RWE.

The third contender, EDF, has debts in excess of EUR20bn and is being forced to sell assets in Brazil, China or Hungary and is in no position to consider more purchases.
