TVN group informed that on October 15th, it has filed a suit to the national radio and TV council (KRRiT) to withdraw Puls television from the concession process announced on April 25th and May 27th concerning the allocation of TV transmitters in Wroclaw, Nowy Sacz, Leszno, Szczecin and Katowice-Bytkow. Another Polish giant among TV broadcasting companies, Polsat, said it may file a similar suit.
If KRRiT approves of the suit, the Polish unit of Rupert Murdoch’s business would be deprived of any chance to widen its coverage. Meanwhile Puls has for a long time been preparing totally new programs. This may turn out to be a total failure because it is small coverage which is Puls’s biggest trouble.
TVN believes that KRRiT illegally approved of Puls
as the winner of the tender to get a universal concession. Before, the company
was supposed to broadcast social and religious programs only.
