Strabag, one of the biggest road building companies in Poland, has got a PLN 2bn contract to build a ring road in Wroclaw. Although it wins many tenders, its cooperation with GDDKiA does not go smoothly.
“The directorate does not take our demands into consideration”, Pawel Antonik, Strabag CEO said.
The company demands jointly as much as PLN 260m. Today, Strabag will send an ultimatum to the directorate. It gives it seven days to start talks to pay the demands.
“Unless the directorate cooperates, we will go to the court and win back the money plus interest”, Strabag head warned.
Strabag representatives believe that GDDKiA should organize tenders faster than today.
“We use 50 percent of our capacity”, Pawel Antonik stressed.
However, this may change soon. Thanks to the contracts it has already won, Strabag may soon double its sales.
“Today, our contracts amount to PLN 2bn annually, in 2009, they may grow to PLN 2.7-3.0bn. In 2010, we target PLN 3.5-4.0bn”, Pawel Antonik estimated.
