Warsaw (Puls Biznesu)–The tender has been announced by the duty authorities to deliver two x-ray machines to control containers and trucks.

Two border points, Gdynia and Dorohusk, will be controlled by x-ray machines.

“These items will make the job of duty officers quicker and will make it easier to find smugglers”, Marek Fellman from the Ministry of Finance said.

In Poland, there are about 80 different x-ray equipments used during border controls.

“Thanks to x-rays you know immediately if a car has legal goods, and if it is suspected, we have a signal to check it closer. The machines are mobile and may x-ray both cars standing and moving”, Mariusz Sitniczuk from the duty office in Bialystok added.

The Ministry of Finance will spend PLN 30m (EUR 7.7m) for the two machines. The project is financed from EU funds. The deadline to submit offers is June 5. The winner will have 5 months to deliver the equipment to Dorohusk and six months to deliver it to Gdynia.
