Today, the 20 share blue chips index ended 0.41 percent down at 3,052.59 points. The psychological barrier of 3,000 points was defended, which is an optimistic sign. Four companies attracted trade of PLN 150-250m, including KGHM, PKN Orlen, Lotos and MOL. KGHM copper producer shed 0.45 percent on Thursday and 18.5 percent in the last five days. PKN Orlen, Lotos and MOL fuel companies were losing, too. PKN Orlen is close to end negotiations with the Lithuanian government to buy the Mozeiki refinery for USD 2.5 billion, which means no dividend this year. The stock dropped 2.2 percent today.

TP telecom, PKO BP and several smaller blue chips resisted the downward trend. TPSA gained 2.4 percent after it said that its portal Wirtualna Polska had its first net income.

Among small caps, Energomontaz-Polnoc construction company jumped 35 percent after it said that it would issue 7.965m shares. The present level was recently noted in November 2001.
