Poland faces a lot of investment in the upcoming years, mainly because of EURO 2012. According to Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz, ex-prime minister, and today Poland’s representative at EBRD, all investment banks are interested in building sports facilities in Poland.
“EBRD is a natural partner to them. We have already started talks about it”, Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz assured.
He added that he wants to encourage Polish companies to invest in the East.
“We can support them in developing their operations first of all in Ukraine but also in Russia and other countries in this region”, ex-PM said.
Talks are going on with companies and financial institutions. Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz refused to say whether he means PKO BP bank or PZU insurer. PKO BP is interested in eastern investment projects. It owns Kredobank of Ukraine (only recently EBRD has withdrawn from this project).
EBRD has also an idea to restructure Polish shipyard industry.
“We have been running talks for two weeks about potential support for Stocznia Szczecinska Nowa and Stocznia Gdynia shipyards. I cannot reveal details but EBRD wants to take part in the restructuring of the plants”, Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz added.
