Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Maspex, Polish juice, beverage, pasta and cappuccino producer from Wadowice, southern Poland, said yesterday it bought 100 percent in Plusssz Vitamin, the Hungarian vitamin beverages producer. “The acquired company owns Plusssz brand. It creates the brand and prepares new recipes. It orders other companies to produce the beverages”, Krzysztof Pawinski, Maspex CEO and one of six co-owners said. He refused to give details concerning the transaction but admitted that Plusssz was bought from his company’s own sources.
Maspex is the owner of Polski Lek, the producer of vitamin beverages, the exclusive distributor of Plusssz in Poland. “Plusssz had a good start in Poland several years ago but then the brand weakened. Maspex supports its products with marketing, which should help Plusssz revitalisation”, Cezary Brzozowski, Pharma Expert analyst commented.
Analysts say that if Maspex continues its present growth rate it will become a Polish peer of such giants as Nestle, Unilever or Cadbury. Maspex has sales of PLN 2 billion (EUR 491.8m). “Maspex realises its strategy to build a Central European food company. On the basis of acquired foreign companies, it may build a very effective distribution system, the way international companies do”, Andrzej Gantner, the head of the Polish Federation of Food Producers said.
