Poland/Enterprises/Telecommunication Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Poland’s Telecommunication and Post Regulation Office (URTiP) promises to treat new telecom operators in a special way. Yesterday, the office announced general rules for the tender for the last free GSM 1800 and UMTS frequencies.

‘In order to increase competitiveness it is suggested to treat preferentially the offers submitted by entities which do not have rights to frequencies 1800 MHz nor UMTS’, URTiP said in an announcement. Details of the special treatment remain a secret. ‘It is a difficult issue to prepare such a tender that it does not breach the law. I hope the CEO of the Competition and Consumer Protection Office UOKiK will help me’, Witold Grabos, URTiP CEO said.

URTiP wants to end the tender until May 9th 2005.
