Poland: WIG20 notes small rise on Thursday

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The Thursday session was a very calm one. The WIG20 index rose by 0.23 percent, too little to exceed the level of 1810 points. It was achieved during the day, the index was close to this year’s maximum of 1819 points, but then it fell down.

Blue chips did not change their prices. The smaller companies of the WIG20 index, however, were eagerly bought. BACA, Computerland, BRE Bank, Kety and BPH rose although the volume of trade was low.

Among medium and small companies, TIM and Polnord rose, the latter having signed a contract worth PLN 105 million (EUR 24.1 million) to build houses in ‘Miasteczko Wilanow’. Stalprofil grew too, after its board had confirmed that it would raise its forecast for 2004.
