Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Torun is getting closer to have an aqua park, a project promised to the town’s inhabitants three years ago.

In 2003, the Torun city council said it would try an aqua park to be built. Just before elections for local governments something has changed. This year, the town’s president published an advertisement concerning the aqua park project. There are three variants possible: to lease or sell the lot where the park will be located, to find an investor who would become the town’s partner or the public private partnership.

“The whole project will be worth PLN 50m (EUR 12.7m), including 75 percent of EU funds. The rest must come from the future partner”, Roman Nadolny from the town’s government said.

He said there are already some potential partners.

“A company named Aquapark has already been founded. It aims to prepare documents and find investors. The latter have already submitted their first offers”, Roman Nadolny added.

The project will be presented to the town council on September 14. It provides for a sports swimming pool with six lines 25m long plus additional pools. The total water surface will amount to 1,200 square meters. Restaurants and bars, shops and a hotel with 170 rooms will be also built.

The only problem is that there are already 10 school swimming pools and an eleventh one will be opened in September.
