The board at Konin aluminium smelter HAK has warned against the proposed imposition of an excise tax on electricity. The board considers that this tax could increase their costs by PLN20m annually and could even result in bankruptcy. The company is the largest end user of electricity in this country taking more than one percent of domestic production.
