Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Poland’s border watch authorities Straz Graniczna cancelled the tender for IT border system. The tender was won by Atlas Elektronik/WPRT but there were several protests from rivals. They claimed that Atlas offer was full of mistakes. It wasn’t the cheapest one, either. Three cheaper offers were rejected, however.
The decision is likely to deprive Poland of EUR 40m of Phare fund. Agreement for the system was to be signed till June 30th, which now seems impossible. Straz Graniczna had a pilot system made by Atlas for EUR 5m. There were too many mistakes in the system for Atlas to be asked to prepare the whole system, therefore a tender was announced. 9 consortia took part in the tender but Straz Graniczna chose Atlas/WPRT, which asked for EUR 29m.Poland/Enterprises/IT/EU
