WestLB increasing activity
Westdeutsche Landesbank Polska has been known for arranging corporate credits for rail operator PKP as well as funding power stations. This year alone a WestLB led a consortium arranged a PLN1bn short term credit for the rail operator and together with the EBRD and Citibank funded a EUR382m loan for the construction of a new energy block at Konin power plant PAK II. Now the bank is hoping to build on this experience funding a new USD1bn energy block at the Bełchatów power plant - if it wins the tender process. Other plans for the bank include financing projects in telecommunications, media, internet and biotechnology. The bank has already been supplying long term loans for the cellular companies for some time.
