From factory to shopping centre

Two new subsidiary companies of Poznań based Pozmeat are to redevelop a former factory in a 5.5 hectare site located in the centre of Poznań.

The two companies, which were formed at the beginning of this week are called Milenium Center and Duo Center. The value of the property is assessed at PLN120m and interest has already been shown from city authorities and foreign investors who would like to develop a shopping centre.

Pia Piasecki getting rid of subsidiaries

Kielce based construction company PIA Piasecki is to sell its stake in two subsidiaries. BPBP Przemysłówka and RPBM Montares have assets valued at PLN33.7m.

These companies were originally bought from national investment funds. They are general construction companies whose market is largely in eastern Poland.

Analysts consider the sale as being somewhat strange as only a few days ago the company announced a strategic consolidation of its capital group.

Brewery improving its drains

Bosman breweries, part of the Bitburger group, is hoping to improve its liquid waste disposal facilities within the next two years. The cost of this will be around PLN20m E PLN25m. Next year the Szczecin based brewery has announced that it does not intend to increase its production capacity from the current 85 E 90m litres. The 24 fermentation tanks of the company could produce up to 110m litres.

Chemical institute suggests consolidation

The chemical industry institute IEPCh suggests consolidation of the production sector of the industry which would then be sold off to a branch investor.

Internet sites hit tourism

Two internet services, wypoczynek.pl and vikki.pl intend to heavily invest in tourism, if backers can be found. Most national portals are also planning a strong attack on tourism before the season comes along.

Drink companies form holding

The alcohol distribution market is going through another consolidation session. This time it involves Agis, Miro, Bis and Astor who have formed a company called Alkohol Holding. The companies are hoping to find a branch investor although a stock market entry in 2002 also remains a possibility.

Bank IT order

If Warsaw based Alltel International wins the order to supply integrated IT systems for bank PKO BP using Softbank software as expected, then the latter could be considered to have won the lottery for a second time. At play is more than PLN1bn.

Softbank signed a co-operation agreement with the American Alltel International two years ago.
