Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Anwil wants to buy the two azote plants although German PCC won the tender.

Anwil, the chemical producer owned by PKN Orlen fuel giant, is trying to buy Spolana from Unipetrol. It competes with Hungarian BordsodChem. Decision will made this month. PKN Orlen had planned before to integrate Spolana, Anwil, ZA Tarnow and ZA Kedzierzyn. However, Anwil did not win in the tender to buy the azote plants from Tarnow and Kedzierzyn. The state-owned agency restructuring the sector chose German Petro Carbo Chem (PCC). However, the government has not approved this transaction yet. Nor the monopoly authorities UOKiK have not given their agreement for the transaction. Anwil hopes to be able to buy the azote plants.

“We are waiting patiently for the decision of the government. If the government decides that Anwil is a better investor, we are ready to start negotiations concerning the price and social packages”, Benedykt Michewicz, Anwil CEO said.
