Leclerc targets new supermarkets
From next year, the French Leclerc intends to invest around PLN200m annually for five years in developing its retail network. Furthermore it would seem that the network will start to build a network of smaller stores and supermarkets this year.
The French chain has eight hypermarkets in Poland at present.
The company claims that it will develop these stores using its own funds and credits from Polish banks.
Turnover has fluctuated from PLN508m in 1998, PLN1.5bn in 1999 to PLN1.2bn last year.
The development side of the business is in the hands of Pergranso. The French are also keen on finding partners in this business with other companies, particularly for developing stores in smaller towns.
Leclerc was founded fifty years ago in France. It has more than 500 stores in France, eight in Portugal, five in Spain and one in Slovenia.
