Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Road building delays in Poland. Only PLN 3.78 billion (EUR 994.1m) have been spent out of the road fund amounting to PLN 5.85 billion.

The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) promises that for the first time in history, all the funds provided for road building will be spent this year. In 2006, the funds kept on the National Road Fund (an account in BGK state-owned bank) amounted to PLN 5.85 billion.

“On December 11th, PLN 3.78 billion has been spent”, Piotr Stalega, BGK spokesman said.

This means that 65 percent of the funds have been spent.

However, the representatives of GDDKiA assure that big payments are yet to be registered.

“In December, invoices for November and December come. We will know in the first quarter, how much money has been spent. We expect PLN 2 billion of invoices in December”, Andrzej Maciejewski from GDDKiA said.
