Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Genpack, a company whose 40 percent is owned by General Electric, will launch a service center in Poland to cater the German market. Wroclaw is a very possible site for this project.
Genpact is going to launch operations in Poland soon.
“This year, we will launch two BPO centers: in Poland and Philippines. Each of the centers will employ 1,500 people”, Pramod Bhasin, Genpact CEO said during a press conference in New Dehli.
As “Puls Biznesu” learnt unofficially, the Polish center would offer, among others, IT services. This year, it will employ 200-250 people. The company founded by General Electric has already started talks in Poland. Leslaw Kuzaj, GE Poland CEO, represents the company. Mr. Kuzaj was unavailable yesterday. The company is looking for a site and hopes to get state subsidy for the project.
The investor may be offered to receive incentives of the special economic zone (tax exemption). Because it is going to employ specialists fluent in German, possible sites include Poznan or Wroclaw. The latter is the third best region in Poland to locate service investment, according to a report made by the Gdansk Institute of Market Economics. Genpact may receive public subsidy in addition. Recently, Shell has said it would launch a financial-accounting center in Krakow. The company will spend PLN 27m (EUR 6.8m) and employ first 400 and then 800 people. Shell will get public help.
Genpack employs 19,000 people and has its centers in India, Romania, Hungary, China, USA and Mexico. Its shareholders are GE (40 percent) and two private equity funds: General Atlantic Partners and Oak Hill Capital Partners.
Nearly 40 international companies have their BPO centers in Poland. According to estimates, till 2010, 550,000 Poles will be employed in such centers.
