Record oil prices and economic slow down force automakers to cut capacities. Toyota will limit production in the middle of September.
“One of two daily shifts in our plants in the UK and Poland will be suspended”, Takeshi Uchiyamada, Toyota deputy CEO said.
In Poland, where Toyota has plants in Walbrzych and Jelcz-Laskowice, only the latter will be affected. It produces Diesel engines.
“Since September 15th till November 7th, only one shift will work there”, Grzegorz Gorski, Toyota spokesman said.
Employees should not worry, however.
“We will treat this period as another opportunity to raise qualifications of
our employees. Besides, they will be able to work in Toyota plants abroad”,
Grzegorz Gorski assured.
