Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Spanish Maxam is going to launch production of gunpowder goods for, among others, KGHM copper producer.

Maxam Corporation, the second largest producer of gunpowder products in the world, is going to build in the Dolny Slask region, storages and a plant producing the most modern gunpowder goods used in the mining industry. The company has already bought 10 ha of land and is going to build a plant, its 25th, where part of the production will be shifted. Maxam will thus be close to its clients from Poland, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia.

“We want to spend PLN 12m (EUR 3.1m) to build the plant with the most modern production lines. We want to have everything ready for the production till the end of this year”, Grzegorz Liberka, Maxam Polska CEO said.

The company will employ 120 people, including 40 miners. It will produce 5,000 tons of gunpowder products annually. 70 percent will be exported. KGHM, the listed copper producer, will be one of the main Polish clients. Production should be started in early 2008.
