Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) - Penton Partners is going to raise USD 60m for new investment projects. They do not have to be sector-specific.
Penton Partners, a private equity fund, has USD 7m today, which it raised in the first round. The capital will be investment in 2-3 small projects. The funds is going to close another fund soon, which will be four times higher.
"We want to get USD 60m from investors. We will start raising funds in September. We are checking the market presently. I hope to launch the fund this year", Marek Chlopek, Penton Partners partner said.
The fund is looking for investors in the USA mainly, more rarely in Europe. It is not oriented for the Polish capital.
"The lack of Polish financial sources is the biggest barrier for the development of classic venture capital funds, or funds which invest in start-ups. In Poland, the capital for such ventures is not sufficient. In other countries, the governments support such funds by, e.g. tax incentives", Barbara Nowakowska, the head of the Polish Association of Capital Investors commented.
Contrary to its rivals, Penton has no preferences as far as the sector is concerned. The funds is investing USD 2-7m in one project for 5 years. The company has already executed several investment projects, including Kujawskie Zaklady Poligraficzne printing company. It is also a small shareholder in PZU insurer and PKE energy company.
