Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The head of regional PiS demands the prosecutor’s office to check the privatization of Kedzierzyn chemical plant. It may disturb the privatization which was supposed to be conducted by PCC German company.

The Highest Chamber of Control (NIK) is finishing the investigation concerning the privatization of Kedzierzyn, Tarnow, Zachem and Sarzyna chemical producer. Official results have not been presented yet but Slawomir Klosowski, the head of PiS party in Opolskie region, filed a suit at the prosecutor’s office alleging there was a crime made at the privatization of Kedzierzyn azote plants. At the beginning of the year, Kedzierzyn sold Silekol, the producer of glue for the furniture industry to Pfleiderer Grajewo. The Ministry of the Treasure approved of this transaction. The azote producer earned PLN 23m (EUR 5.7m). Kronospan, Grajewo rival who also wanted to buy Silekol, said it would offer EUR 10m.The investigation may disturb the privatization of Kedzierzyn. German investor Petro Carbo Chem is waiting for the approval of competition authorities UOKiK to end the transaction. PCC is to pay PLN 100m and invest PLN 360m in the company. Slawomir Klosowski states things plain.“Selling Kedzierzyn for PLN 100m is not  cosmic amount of money, especially that the plant’s market share is worth PLN 1.8 billion, according to specialists. The level of investment promise by PCC is not high”, Slawomir Klosowski said.In his opinion, Kedzierzyn could be sold to Anwil owned by PKN Orlen fuel giant, which has been interested in the acquisition some time ago.“You cannot criticize investor’s commitments. I’m surprised that things are going this way. They want to stop privatizations”, Jerzy Majchrzak, the former CEO of Kedzierzyn commented.  (PLN 1 = EUR 0.249)
