Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIIZ) closed 24 projects last year worth PLN 3 billion (EUR 762 m). Automotive, home-appliances and food producers were mainly interested in investing in Poland. Another Polish speciality is becoming BCO, including accounting centres. ‘As far as automotive investments are concerned, Slovakia is the best in the region. We compete with the Czech Republic to win investment in BCO’, Sebastian Mikosz, PAIIZ deputy CEO explained.

He added, that Poland lacks promotion abroad. ‘Poland is not connected with any particular merit, Sebastian Mikosz said. The long list of Polish vices includes, of course, infrastructure and red tape. The agency has very small funds to operate – last year its budget amounted to PLN 11.5 m, this year PLN 10 m. ‘We would need PLN 40-50 m to be effective’, Andrzej Zdebski, PAIIZ CEO estimated.

Despite limited funds, this year may be interesting. “Since the beginning of the year, we have closed 4 projects worth EUR 287 m. They will give 820 jobs. This is a sign that investors interest in Poland is growing’, Andrzej Zdebski stressed.
