Agora focuses on new media. In February, its CEO Marek Sowa said that in three years, the majority of the company’s sales would be generated from non-publishing business.
“Two thirds of sales should be generated by operations other than press publishing. This is not only the internet, but also AMS or radio”, Tomasz Jozefacki, the head of Agora internet business said.
In the first quarter, Agora sales amounted to PLN 313.4m (EUR 93.3m). AMS, the outdoor company, the radio and internet advertising generated only PLN 66.4m. Agora invests strongly in online business: it has 59 internet brands. Gazeta.pl portal has similar number of users as Interia.pl and O2.
“We want to fight with O2 and Interia for the third place in the ranking”, Tomasz Jozefacki said.
The company concluded the acquisition of Trader.pl several days ago. Agora has PLN 900m for further acquisitions. It is also testing mobile TV in DVB-H standard. It is also going to launch a common newsroom for internet and radio operations. The company is building its own TV studio as well.
“More details will be published in fall”, Tomasz Jozefacki said.
The company engages more and more funds in Ukraine.
“We want to become the leader within several years”, Tomasz Jozefacki added.
