Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – On Wednesday, the WIG20 index ended 0.6 percent down. So did WIG. MIDWIG, the index of medium-sized companies added 0.3 percent to its new record of 2,200.43 points. It often happened before that increases in the market were ended with growth of medium companies. This may be a warning to stabile investors.
KGHM copper producer was the best performer among giants and grew 2.2 percent to its new all-time record. It was thanks to high copper prices which exceeded USD 4,500 a tone today. Pekao and Bank BPH banks lost about 1.8 percent each after the Ministry of the Treasury demanded the Italian group Unicredito to withdraw from BPH because due to the merger with German HVB it has over 71 percent of the bank.
Among smaller companies, Capital Partners lost 12 percent while shares worth PLN 28m (EUR 7.3m) changed hands, more than those of such giants as PGNiG, TVN or BPH. Al-Pras continued gains – the company has jumped 62 percent in the last two days. Other companies which noted high increases include: Skotan (21.5 percent), Prochnik (16.8 percent), Gant (13.7 percent) and Energoaparatura (10.5 percent).
