Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The two investors want to buy the shipyard. Stocznia Gdynia has huge debts and no good idea to get rid of them.

Yesterday was the deadline to submit initial offers to buy Stocznia Gdynia. On June 29, during the GSM, the management of the shipyard will present the offers to the shareholders. The latter will then finally agree to increase the shipyard’s assets by PLN 300m (EUR 75.9m). As expected, Ukrainian Donbas and Israeli ship owner Rami Ungar, submitted their offers.

Stocznia Gdynia has nearly PLN 500m of overdue payments. The shipyard employees have proposed a bill which would reduce the debts. The bill provides for writing off PLN 300m of debts, prolonging the deadline to pay back PLN 100m of debts and a bond issue worth PLN 350m. Pawel Poncyljusz, the deputy Minister of Economy, said that the bill was not accepted by the government.

“I understand that the shipyard has got problems but if we agree for this law, another question will arise: why not writing off the payments of Kompania Weglowa or Hydral?”, Pawel Poncyljusz said.

(PLN 1 = EUR 0.253)
