Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – In the years 2007-2008, the economy will grow at over 5 percent pace, the Gdansk Institute for Market Economics (IBnGR) experts say.

According to the estimates by IBnGR, the GDP growth in the first quarter amounted to 7 percent. In the next quarters, the dynamics will stay above 5 percent.

“In the years 2007-8, the economy will stay in good condition. Construction sector will be the fastest growing. Internal demand will grow substantially (by 6.9 percent in 2007 and 7 percent a year later) and it will be the main growth engine for the economy”, Marin Peterlink, IBnGR expert believes.

The think-tank expects that investments will increase 18.2 percent this year and 22.4 percent next year. Individual consumption will grow, respectively, by 5.2 and 4.5 percent. Increasing wages and employment will make inflation grow faster. At the end of this and next year, inflation should amount to 2.7 percent. At the end of 2008, the unemployment rate in Poland should fall to 12 percent.
