Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Huawei Technologies and ZTE Corporation, China’s two biggest telecommunication solutions producers want to win Polish market. The first company has already opened its office in Poland, while the second one is about to do it. ‘Their entrance will result in further decrease of margins. This is a very competitive market even without the Chinese’, a manager of one of global deliverers commented. Both Chinese companies want to employ a lot of people, there are many adds in the press.
The companies have already had a few successes. ‘On May 10th, an agreement was signed between TP and Huawei for subscribers routers CPE for business clients delivery’, Barbara Gorska, TP telecom spokesperson said. High quality of the products offered and competitive price were decisive for the decision. ZTE, on the other hand, signed a global agreement in March with France Telecom and is its ADSL equipment deliverer. The company will probably open its Polish office in the third quarter.
Huawei and ZTE want to win clients from Alcatel, Cisco Systems, Ericsson, Lucent Technologies, Nokia, Nortel Networks and Siemens. Their products portfolio and services for telecommunication are very similar to those companies’, but the price is much lower. The companies present in the Polish market seem not to worry, at least officially. ‘We also have a unit in China and we are successful there. We do not deliver only products but also know-how, experience and innovations’, Katarzyna Kowalska from Lucent Technologies commented.
Huawei may win the tender to build transmission network SDH for Telefonia Dialog, a contract worth PLN 10 m (EUR 2.4 m). ‘The tender is still going on’, Marta Pietranik from Telefonia Dialog said. Huawei could also offer to build UMTS network for Netia. Both companies held talks before the winner of the UMTS tender was chosen. Again, low price could be decisive although rivals think otherwise. ‘The situation of the deliverer, I meant both finances and the guarantee of further technological development of its products, is a vital element’, Kuba Pancewicz, the head of Noka Polish unit commented. ‘Our advantage is better knowledge of the market. Moreover, our offer is complex and suits other solutions. To many operators, the security and product’s development is more important than low price’, Jakub Sagan, the head of the Polish unit in Alcatel added. Chinese offer prices by over 30 percent lower than their competition.
