Several years ago, Daewoo Motor Corporation went bankrupt and withdrew from FSO, the Warsaw car plant. Now, in Strzelce Opolskie it plans to launch one of its three worldwide factories. S&T Daewoo will have facilities in Poland, India and Mexico. The company plans to invest PLN 50m in Poland and employ 100-150 people. The Polish plant will produce dampers, air bags and car electronics. Jae-Joon Ahn, S&T Daewoo, assured last week that the plant will be launched in fall 2009. The company is looking for clients. An initial contract has been signed with Opel plant in Gliwice to deliver car parts.
When Daewoo went bankrupt, the FSO plant continued the production of Daewoo Lanos which is very popular in Ukraine. It remains uncertain whether Daewoo will cooperate with FSO this time.
